Delhi’s Pragati Maidan played host to the 15th Edition of Auto Expo 2020 Components Show. Held parallelly with the Auto Expo 2020 Motor Show hosted at the India Expo Mart – Greater Noida, the Components Show held it’s own attracting an impressive footfall despite the Coronavirus anxiety looming large. An estimated 1300+ exhibitors drew 1.5 lakh visitors over the course of the glitch-free and sanitised expo held between February 06-09, 2020. Spread over an expanse of 60,000 sq.m, with the venue upgradation on in full steam, the show jointly organised by Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) lived up to its expectations. It rekindled hope of the resilient and determined industry turning tide sooner than later. Averred Deepak Jain, President, ACMA, “It is indeed a pleasure to have organised such an extravagant show, the confidence shown by component industry and the trade visitors alike is reassuring. The show truly reflects the confidence in the Indian auto component industry and its readiness for the future of mobility.” Jain drew attention to the exhibitors displaying world class, generation next products conforming with the theme ‘Technovation’. The ACMA President committed to the alignment of Component industries in India with the Government’s vision of making India a USD Five trillion-dollar economy by 2025, of which he shared that the Auto component industries contribution would be USD 250 billion.

A testimony to the industry has transitioned to regulatory compliances in record time, this year of the biennial expo focused on tech innovations around BSVI, emobility and attaining high safety standards. With an underlying theme, ‘Technovation- Discover Innovations for Future’ the show attracted participation from nearly 70 countries. A staggering 400 companies launched 1200 new products at the show making it difficult to choose from. Setting aside hopes of any pre-buying activity at the Original Equipment Manufacturer level, the show left no room for doubt about the component industry’s contribution and adherence to regulatory compliances and pulling all stops for mass commercialisation of BSVI and emobility products expected to flood the market in the coming months. The auto components industry highlighted its go-to-market strategy for the megatrends pertaining to the future of mobility in the country.

It meant that the well established and emerging component manufacturers including startups engaged with visitors to share more details on products and its applications with the end objective to create a larger awareness around their product portfolios. Many hinted at transactions taking place. The 15th Edition like the previous editions erected country pavillions with participation from Japan, South Korea, the UK, Germany, Turkey and Canada with an estimated 200 International companies known to have participated. An efficient indexing and mapping of these companies ensured ease of access for the visitors. Holding their forte, in comparison to the conventional and well-established participants, Start-ups and emerging EV component players from across India impressed with their products and solutions showcase. For instance, Mumbai based Japanese company Asahi Kasaei created a buzz around its concept car and succeeded at spreading awareness of developments centred on electrification. “We are providing the input materials to the Electric Car in line with the Government of India’s focus on electrification over ICE-powered vehicles. We are hopeful of expansion going forward,” expressed a representative from the company.
