Halla Visteon Climate Control Corp. has announced the opening of a new production hall at its Halla Visteon Autopal, s.r.o. manufacturing facility in Hluk, Czech Republic. The expansion will increase the plant’s capacity by approximately 30 percent by adding an additional 7,330 square meters (nearly 79,000 square feet) of manufacturing space to the existing 37,230 square meters (nearly 401,000 square feet) of floor space. Production is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2015.
“As the movement to downsize engines continues, HVCC is well-positioned to provide innovative thermal energy management solutions that offer fuel economy benefits and address emissions regulations,” said YH Park, president and CEO of Halla Visteon Climate Control. “This plant expansion is another important step to support new business and allows us to grow with our customers. We remain committed to delivering eco-friendly solutions to reduce emissions in modern engines, and to benefit customers and communities around the world.”
This is the second expansion at Hluk since HVCC was established in 2013. The first expansion, completed last year, added 8,000 square meters (about 86,000 square feet). Employing approximately 450 people, the plant in Hluk currently produces powertrain cooling components including air- and water-cooled charge air coolers, low-temperature radiators and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolers, for major European automakers.Water-cooled charge air coolers are a package-friendly and efficient heat exchanger used primarily in high-performance vehicle applications with turbochargers or superchargers. Low-temperature radiators dissipate the heat generated from water-cooled charge air coolers.
Halla Visteon Autopal, s.r.o., also has a facility in Nový Jičín that supplies fluid transport products including air conditioning lines and accumulators, internal heat exchangers and heater tubes to various automakers.
