Gestamp, a global company specialising in the design, development and manufacture of highly engineered metal components for the automotive industry, has officially inaugurated its fifth production facility in India at Bhagapura, Gujarat.
The facility represents an investment of INR 523.7 crore across phases one and two, reinforcing Gestamp’s long-term commitment to India and expanding its manufacturing presence in one of the country’s key automotive production hubs.
The plant was inaugurated by Francisco J. Riberas, Executive Chairman, Gestamp; Antonio López, CEO Asia; Glyn Jones, Country Manager and President, Gestamp India; and Patricia Riberas, Chief Corporate Officer.
The investment comes as Gestamp pursues a selective global investment strategy, prioritising markets with strong growth potential while maintaining discipline on overall capital expenditure. India remains a key market for the company, with light vehicle production in the country forecast to reach 7.8 million units by 2030, an increase of 28% compared with 2025 levels, according to S&P Global Mobility projections.
Spread across 31,790 sq m, the Bhagapura plant currently employs around 240 people. It is equipped with two hot-stamping lines, a laser cutting line and welding cells for assembly operations. The facility also has scope for further expansion, subject to future developments and demand.

Technology-led manufacturing for lightweighting and safety
The Bhagapura facility has been designed with a focus on efficiency, flexibility and advanced manufacturing capabilities. It currently manufactures highly engineered body-in-white (BiW) components and is equipped to produce products from Gestamp’s Ges-Gigastamping family.
These large, lightweight components are designed to help automakers improve vehicle efficiency, reduce CO₂ emissions, enhance safety and simplify vehicle assembly processes.
The plant also incorporates an energy monitoring system to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and optimise energy consumption. Gestamp plans to enter into agreements for the purchase of electricity certified as originating from renewable sources, further supporting the facility’s energy-efficiency objectives.
Two decades of expansion in India
Gestamp entered the Indian market in 2006, initially participating in industrial projects through partnerships before beginning to develop its own manufacturing footprint from 2010 onwards.
Over the past two decades, the company has expanded its presence to five manufacturing facilities three in Pune, Maharashtra, one in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and the newly inaugurated facility in Bhagapura, Gujarat.
Gestamp’s total manufacturing footprint in India now covers approximately 188,000 sq m and includes 14 stamping production lines, five of which use hot-stamping technology. Two additional hot-stamping lines are currently being installed, further increasing the company’s manufacturing capacity in the country.
The company currently generates around 2,300 jobs in India across the development and production of BiW components and assemblies, chassis parts and mechanisms, including hinges and door checks.
Gestamp’s India business has also recorded significant growth in recent years. Revenue increased by more than 80% over the last five full financial years, reaching €245 million in 2025.
With the addition of its Gujarat facility and further investments in advanced manufacturing technologies, Gestamp is strengthening its local production capabilities and positioning itself to support the evolving requirements of global and domestic automakers in India.
