Jaya Hind Industries Breaks Ground for Expansion of Chennai Die-Casting Facility

Jaya Hind Industries (JHI), a fully vertically integrated company with world-class tool manufacturing capabilities and a leading global supplier of precision aluminium die-cast components, has marked the ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of its Chennai manufacturing facility. The expansion underscores JHI’s long-term commitment to advanced manufacturing, capacity augmentation, and building future-ready capabilities in India.

Located at Kottaiyur Village in the Thiruvallur District of Tamil Nadu, the expanded facility is being developed with an investment of approximately ₹200 crore. The expansion will feature state-of-the-art High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) machines ranging from 1,400 to 4,400 tonnes, enabling the production of a diverse portfolio of components from conventional internal combustion engine parts to electric vehicle components and large structural castings.

As part of the expansion, a new manufacturing shed spanning nearly 13,000 square metres is planned. Once operational, the facility will house advanced die-casting machines alongside expanded machining capacity, further strengthening the plant’s position as a fully vertically integrated manufacturing unit.

Aligned with JHI’s strategy to deepen vertical integration and ensure end-to-end process control, the expanded facility will incorporate critical in-house processes including machining, powder coating, heat treatment, honing, and impregnation. These capabilities are expected to enhance quality assurance, improve operational efficiency, and provide greater control over complex and high-precision manufacturing requirements.

The expansion is being driven by a robust pipeline of new business that has led to full utilisation of existing capacity. The Chennai plant will support JHI’s growing and diversified customer base, which includes export customers such as Cummins (USA) and Generac (USA), domestic OEMs like TVS Motor Company in the super-premium two-wheeler segment, as well as emerging EV module manufacturers. Upon full completion, the Chennai facility is expected to achieve an installed capacity of approximately 20,000 tonnes per annum.

Commenting on the expansion, Mr. Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Jaya Hind Industries, said,

“This expansion represents a significant milestone in Jaya Hind Industries’ growth journey. With strong order momentum across both domestic and export markets, the Chennai facility will play a key role in augmenting our die-casting capacity while further strengthening our vertical integration. By investing in advanced HPDC and machining capabilities, along with critical in-house processes, we are enhancing our ability to deliver high-quality, complex aluminium solutions with greater control, consistency, and speed. This project also reinforces our commitment to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities in India, aligned with the Make in India vision.”
