Polaris India Pvt. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Polaris Industries Inc. (USA), has made an entry into motorcycle manufacturing by launching its Chief brand range of motorcycles. It includes Indian Chief Classic, Indian Chief Vintage and the Indian Chieftain. The Chief range is powered by the Thunder Stroke111 engine that churns out 139 Nm of torque at 2600 rpm. The range will be sold through the completely-built-up (CBU) route. The price would be from Rs 26.5 to Rs 33 lakhs.
The Thunder Stroke 111 engine features 111 cubic inch displacement that delivers raw power with iconic styling which has long been the hallmark of the Indian Motorcycle brand. The 49-degree V-Twin engine marks the first clean-sheet Indian Motorcycle engine design in seven decades. With parallel pushrod tubes, finned heads, down firing exhausts and left side air intake, the proportions and layout will be familiar to Indian Motorcycle riders.
