Motherson Sumi Systems Limited (MSSL) announced that it has been included in the 2021 Dow Jones
Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, for the first time. Commenting on this landmark achievement, Laksh Vaaman Sehgal, Vice Chairman, Motherson states, “Our inclusion into the Dow Jones Sustainability indices highlights our continuous efforts to improve sustainability across all three ESG pillars. At Motherson, we work to build a company that operates in a way that builds a sustainable society for all and that can be handed over from generation to generation. Therefore in 2021, we joined the UN Global Compact and published our first annual sustainability report. We know well that there is a lot more work to do, but we are proud that our progress so far is being recognised.”

The DJSI, including the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), were launched in 1999 as the pioneering series of global sustainability benchmarks available in the market. The index family is comprised of global, regional, and country benchmarks. The Dow Jones Sustainability™ World Index comprises global sustainability leaders as identified by S&P Global through the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). It represents the top 10 per cent of the largest 2,500 companies in the S&P Global BMI based on long-term economic, environmental, and social criteria.
