Minda Corporation Limited has been awarded the prestigious National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities 2024 under the category “Best Employer for Persons with Disabilities.” The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presented the award to Ms. Sarika Minda, Chairperson of Spark Minda Foundation, at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Sarika Minda said, “This award reaffirms our commitment to empowering persons with disabilities and embodies our vision of ‘Mobility for Everyone.’ Inclusion is not just a duty but a way to create a fairer society. Through our Saksham initiative, we hope to inspire others to join this journey of breaking barriers and fostering opportunities for all.”

Launched in 2015, Saksham is the flagship program of Spark Minda Foundation, a subsidiary of Minda Corporation. This initiative has transformed the lives of over 21,000 persons with disabilities (PwDs) by addressing critical needs in mobility, education, employment, and empowerment.

– Over 1,200 PwDs are employed across Spark Minda Group factories.
– Permanent empowerment centers have been established in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, offering skill training, assistive aids, and livelihood support.
– Annual camps are held in regions such as Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand, reaching underserved communities.

Spark Minda Foundation partners with 35+ government bodies, NGOs, and organizations to provide employment and skill development for PwDs. Assistive aids like prosthetics, orthotics, walkers, and wheelchairs further enable PwDs to lead independent lives.

The President’s Award is a significant milestone in Spark Minda Group’s journey toward inclusion. Other accolades include recognitions from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and the CII-ITC Sustainability Award.

Spark Minda Group’s efforts highlight a dedicated approach to creating an inclusive, empowered, and equitable society for persons with disabilities.
