Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer and current market leader in India has charted aggressive plans for India. The company is geared up to launch 10 new cars this year, which will include at least one new car in each segment of their comprehensive product portfolio. The company has already launched Audi R8 LMX – the most powerful and fastest offering from the Audi stable, in January this year. The Audi R8 LMX is also the first production car in India with Laser high beam headlights.

“Audi continues to be the undisputed No.1 in the luxury car market and has remained the preferred choice of luxury mobility for car enthusiasts in India. The sheer acceptance of our brand in this country is tremendous. We believe for Audi, India is a long journey and it’s not just about a month or a year. Audi offers the widest range of products across the spectrum. We keenly listen to our customers and introduce cars that make sense both from the business and customer point of view. This strategy has helped us to not only achieve leadership but also to maintain it for over two consecutive years now,” said Mr. Joe King, Head, Audi India.

Audi sold 10851 units and registered a record market share of 34 percent in the luxury car segment in 2014. It is notable that this growth was not dependent on any particular model. According to Audi, all their models have been consistently performing well within their respective segments. The first compact luxury sedan Audi A3, which was launched last year, is doing brilliantly according to industry experts. Audi Q3 is also doing exceptionally well and India is one of the top 10 markets worldwide for the Audi Q7. Audi has always been the first mover in introducing products across the range, and introduced the first compact luxury open top – Audi A3 Cabriolet at the end of last year.

The company is also looking to expand its network and has lined up plans to increase its customer touch points by 15% this year which will be a combination of showrooms and service facilities. The brand believes in not just setting up a showroom to create more sales but also to have the right service capability to ensure that the customer is serviced for life. The company has already opened new showrooms in Bengaluru Central and Ranchi this year apart from Kolkata’s second full-fledged Audi Exclusive Service workshop. Audi has also inaugurated its 7th pre-owned luxury car showroom – Audi Approved: plus in Kolkata this year. Audi already has a strong presence in Tamil Nadu with dealerships in Chennai and Coimbatore.
