Trelleborg to set up integrated manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, capacity to rise 30%

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions India is setting up a new manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, as part of its plan to expand local capacity and streamline operations. The greenfield project is expected to increase the company’s production capacity in India by around 30%.

The facility is coming up on Kanakapura Main Road at Kaggalahalli and will span close to 50,000 sq. m, with completion targeted for 2027. Unlike its current multi-location setup, the new site is being developed as an integrated campus, bringing together manufacturing, research and development, application engineering, supply chain operations, and global IT support under one roof.

Senior leadership, including Jürgen Bosch, Business Area President, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, and KJ Tan, President – Operations Asia Pacific, were present at the project’s start, along with India leadership led by Managing Director Raghavendra Nagaragadde and General Manager Vinay Balakrishnan.

The development has also received support from the Karnataka government. M.B. Patil, Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, noted that the state continues to back investments in advanced manufacturing through policy support and a business-friendly environment.

Once operational, the facility will manufacture a wide range of sealing solutions, including PTFE components, rotary shaft seals, mechanical face seals, and polyurethane-based products. These are used across multiple sectors such as automotive, aerospace, construction, industrial automation, and energy.

A dedicated R&D centre will be part of the campus, equipped with materials and testing laboratories. This is expected to improve product validation timelines and support application-specific development for both domestic and export markets.

Trelleborg has been present in Bengaluru since 2005, serving both Indian and global customers. The new investment reflects the company’s continued focus on localisation, closer customer alignment, and expanding its role within global supply chains.

From an industry perspective, the move aligns with a broader trend among global component manufacturers to consolidate operations and build integrated facilities in India. Bringing engineering, production, and supply chain functions together is increasingly seen as critical to improving responsiveness and efficiency.

The facility is also being developed with a focus on energy efficiency and environmental standards, and is expected to operate under global certifications including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and AS/EN 9100.

With this expansion, Trelleborg is positioning its India operations not just as a manufacturing base, but as a more integrated hub supporting both local demand and global programs.
