ZF Hero Chassis Systems Pvt. Ltd. the 50:50 JV of ZF India Pvt. Ltd. and Hero Motors Ltd. recently inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Oragadam, Kanchipuram district on the outskirts of Chennai city. The new facility will assemble front and rear chassis systems for leading premium automaker BMW. The new plant has been built on a plot size of 7,200 (approx. 75,000 Sq. feet) square meters. The new plant is part of ZF Hero’s ‘local-for-local’ concept where it provides its auto customers with products which are produced locally or at a location which is as close as possible to the client.
“We at ZF Hero Chassis System are continuing our policy of being close to our customers with special emphasis on ‘low-cost, high-quality’ offering for global OEMs in the Indian auto market” said Pankaj Munjal, Chairman of Hero Motors. “ZF Hero has been present with GM India at their locations in Talegaon and Halol and now for BMW at Chennai. We believe in providing the best configured solution of Quality, Cost and Delivery to our customers. Equally, design-to-market considerations play an important role in this regard. Our engineers are located in the new plant in order to specifically meet the requirements of its customers” added Mr Munjal.
