Force Motors has rolled out its 200,000th Mercedes-Benz engine from its manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, marking a major milestone in its long-standing partnership with the German luxury carmaker. The collaboration between Force Motors and Mercedes-Benz in engine manufacturing dates back to 1997 and today includes the production of engines and axles for all Mercedes-Benz cars and SUVs manufactured in India.
The milestone engine is a six-cylinder M256 unit, which has been fitted in the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450. The achievement reflects Force Motors’ growing role in India’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem and underlines the increasing importance of localised production for global OEMs operating in the country.
The milestone was celebrated in the presence of Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Force Motors, along with senior executives from Mercedes-Benz Group AG, including Dr. Joerg Burzer, Member of the Board of Management and Chief Technology Officer – Development & Procurement.
Commenting on the achievement, Prasan Firodia said the 200,000th engine represents decades of trust, precision and shared purpose between the two companies. He added that the Chakan facility was purpose-built to meet Mercedes-Benz’s global manufacturing standards and every engine produced at the plant reflects Force Motors’ commitment to engineering excellence.
The milestone also highlights the strength of Indo-German industrial collaboration and reinforces India’s position as a key manufacturing hub for global automotive companies.
