To expand global footprint and to accelerate business expansion, Renesas Electronics Corporation today announced the opening of Renesas Electronics India Pvt. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Renesas Electronics Singapore Pte. Ltd. The company will be headquartered in Bangalore.
Through this global expansion, the company expects to provide customers with market-specific and innovative semiconductor solutions.
Guests from the Embassy of Japan in India, company representatives from Japan and Singapore, as well as customers and industry partners attended the opening ceremony held in Bangalore on April 16, 2014.
“By opening a full-fledged subsidiary in India, we will be able to provide better and broader support to the growing customer base in India,” said Manabu Kawashima, Senior Vice President of Renesas Electronics Corporation. “India is one of the most important markets for Renesas and strengthening our presence here is part of our growth strategy. We aim to expand our global sales by providing the best solution offerings and technical product support, as well as a regional systems solution development expertise to the Indian market.”
As part of its expansion plan, Renesas is converting its India branch offices to a full subsidiary. Renesas can now expand its operations to other cities in India, as well as engage in a wider range of business activities.
By providing dedicated local support via the new company, and with a focus on industrial and automotive applications, Renesas aims to increase its microcontroller (MCU) share in India.
Renesas has launched a series of 8/16-bit general-purpose microcontrollers (MCUs) for emerging markets including, India. In addition to these MCU products, Renesas Electronics India will be growing the number of kit solutions combining MCUs with Analog & Power devices and reference boards for automotive, consumer and industrial appliances.
The Company said that its engineering team will develop and market ”India-centric” solutions, focusing first on two-wheeler automotive solutions.
“The application engineering team aims to survey the market for future solutions fitting the price points and specifications points as required in the Indian market” explained Sunil Dhar, Managing Director of Renesas Electronics India.
Since 2010, Renesas has been carrying out its business promotion activities and providing technical product support to its customers in India via its branch offices in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.
