Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has announced the appointment of its CEO, Mr. John Slaven, as Vice-Chairman of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). Mr. Slaven will lead global initiatives to foster sustainable transformation within the aluminium industry and highlight aluminium’s role in achieving a Zero Carbon future. The IAI, established in 1972, represents the primary aluminium industry worldwide, promoting responsible production and the benefits of aluminium in sustainable technologies.

Mr. Slaven expressed his commitment to enhancing aluminium’s potential in the global transition to a Net Zero future and looks forward to collaborating with IAI board members to solidify aluminium as the definitive metal of the future. With over 30 years of experience in the metals, mining, and manufacturing industries, Mr. Slaven has significantly influenced the sector. As CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, he drives the company’s growth strategy and prioritizes sustainable practices. Under his leadership, Vedanta Aluminium has been recognized as the most sustainable aluminium company globally, according to the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2023. Vedanta Aluminium produces over half of India’s aluminium, contributing 2.37 million tonnes in FY24, and is a leader in value-added aluminium products essential to core industries.
