Renault Kwid launched at Rs 2.56 lakh

Renault India has launched its first entry-level hatchback Kwid at Rs 256,968 for the base model. Pitted against Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon, Kwid is priced aggressively, which is cheaper than Alto by Rs 30,000 and Rs 90,000 by Eon. The Kwid is the first car to be manufactured under Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A platform, and is powered by a three-cylinder 799cc SCe – Smart Control Efficiency petrol engine that makes 53.2bhp and 7.34kgm of torque. Renault claims that Kwid is the most fuel efficient petrol car in the country delivering mileage of 25.17 kmpl. To price it competitively, Renault has taken focussed efforts to take the localisation level to 98%, which will positively influence the overall cost of ownership.

Kwid comes in 4 variants—Standard, RxE, RxL and RxT – the Kwid measures 3679mm in length, 1579mm in height and 1471mm in width. It has a wheelbase of 2422mm with class-leading ground clearance of 180mm and a boot capacity of 300 litres. The RxE and the RxT variants are also available with some optional features. It also comes with first in class features like 7 inch touch-screen, media-nav system, digital Instrument cluster, one-touch lane change indicator.

On the accessories front, Kwid will come with a tempting array of design, trim and technological accessories that will allow customers to personalise their car. An exciting range of accessories across 60 categories have been developed along with an interesting set of lifestyle decals, another segment first offering. In addition 6 accessory packs – Basic pack, Essential pack, Smart Chrome pack, Intense Chrome pack, Luxury pack and Outdoor pack will also be available.
