Volvo launched its S60 T6 petrol variant today in India at Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Volvo S60 succeeds the launch of XC90, V40 Cross Country Petrol, V40 with an equilibrium of dynamism, style and comfort. The new S60 will compete with BMW 3-series and the Mercedes C-class.
The new Volvo S60 T6 houses a 2-litre four-cylinder direct injected turbo petrol engine that churns out 306hp of power with a maximum torque of 400Nm. The motor transmits power to the front wheels of the car via 8-speed Geartronic Automatic Transmission (GMT), thus making it a forward wheel drive setup, rather than the previous AWD setup. The vehicle sprints from 0-100kmph in just 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 230kmph. The saloon gives a mileage of 15.6kmpl.
Standard features on the S60 T6 include electronic climate control, electric sunroof, leather seats, active bending lights with LED daytime running lights, parking assist, a digital TFT instrument cluster, power adjustable seats and a 7-inch infotainment system with DVD, navigation and Bluetooth, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The safety features in S60 includes automatic brakes, where the vehicle is stopped in case of approaching stationary objects and moving objects too fast if drivers reflex is delayed and this feature works upto 50km/hour. The side impact protection system (SIPS) of the car reduces the effect of impacts if any by distributing the side air bags cocooning the occupants chest and hip.Whiplash protection operates whips in case of any collision by cradling the front occupant while the headrest reclines more to reduce the after effects of the collision. The air quality system subdivides in two which are labelled as interior air quality system (IAQ) and clean zone interior package (CZIP).
