Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari revealed that significant progress has been made under Phase-1 of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, with 76% of the planned 34,800 km of national length awarded by December 2023. Out of this, approximately 15,549 km have been successfully completed. Gadkari highlighted that a substantial sum of Rs. 4.23 lakh crore has already been expended on the Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-1 by December 2023.

This update underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing India’s road infrastructure and connectivity, vital for economic growth and regional development. The Bharatmala Pariyojana aims to modernize and expand the country’s road network, promoting smoother transportation of goods and passengers across different regions.
