Shift to Sustainable Mobility Solutions

At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Michael Pachmann, Senior VP of Sales, Marketing, and Technology at Padmini VNA Mechatronics Limited, shared the latest powertrain developments with Richa Tyagi.

Q. What is new at Padmini VNA Mechatronics?

A. As you can see, our logo and outfit have changed as we focus on the future of power mobility. Green, the colour of nature, reflects our core values of innovation, sustainability, and commitment to green energy. We redesigned our logo to better communicate this vision to our customers, increasing awareness of our location, our work, and the direction we are heading.

“While we continue to introduce new products for electric vehicles, whether two-wheelers, three-wheelers, or four-wheelers, we are also gradually moving beyond ICE technology.”

Q. Padmini VNA has transitioned significantly from ICE to EV. How has the market responded to this shift?

A. We are receiving a very positive response, which validates our efforts in product development. Our focus has been on preparing products for this technological shift, and we are now seeing strong customer reactions. While we continue to introduce new products for electric vehicles, whether two-wheelers, three-wheelers, or four-wheelers, we are also gradually moving beyond ICE technology. Although ICE remains a core pillar, we are expanding our portfolio to include agnostic solutions, making our products adaptable to any drivetrain. As a global supplier, we ensure that the necessary technologies are available in our portfolio and continuously evolve them to meet industry demands.

Q. Are there any recent collaborations in India that you can share?

A. We are considering further collaborations and have previously worked with strong partners through joint ventures. Our setup supports this direction, and we remain open to new partnerships for product development. However, we are not disclosing any details at this moment.

As a key supplier to OEMs, we are enhancing our vertical integration in production, enabling us to offer locally manufactured solutions for emerging technologies.

A. How does the Indian market compare to the global landscape, especially in the transition to EVs?

B. From my understanding, the Indian market has always been eager to adopt new technologies. Historically, while global markets were more advanced in terms of emissions, India has successfully integrated these technologies over time. The same trend is now visible in EV applications, where the market strongly relies on technology, whether in batteries, raw materials, magnets, or rare earth elements, which initially came primarily from China. However, India is now striving for greater independence, and the supply industry, including Tier 1 suppliers like us, is following this trend. As a key supplier to OEMs, we are enhancing our vertical integration in production, enabling us to offer locally manufactured solutions for emerging technologies. This shift toward local supply is something we are actively working on, and it aligns with the expectations and feedback we receive from OEMs. ACI
