Tork Motors unveiled their first commercial electric motorcycle, the Tork T6X. The company has commenced the pre-bookings at a promotional price of Rs 1.25 lakh, ex-showroom. The Tork T6X has been developed in a period of 1 year, backed up by the company’s 7 years of extensive research and development in electric vehicle technology. It is claimed to be the most powerful electric motorcycle in the county. The electric motorcycle will be introduced in three markets of Pune, Bangalore and Delhi in the first phase, the company noted.
The Tork T6X is powered by a 6 kW Brushless DC motor that delivers 27 Nm of torque throughout the rev-band, and helps the motorcycle reach a claimed top speed of 100 km/h. The motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that has a range of 100 km on full charge, and is equipped with an advanced battery management system. Tork said the battery can be charged up to 80 % in an hour, and fully-charged in two hours. It added that depending on the usage of the motorcycle, the battery can last from 80,000-1,00,000 km.
The T6X is said to have many firsts to its credit in the two-wheeler segment like on-board navigation, storage, cloud connectivity, full digital display and quick charge. It also has a range of advanced safety features including ABS, CDS, anti-theft, geo fencing and daytime running lamps. The T6X is also capable of connecting with customers’ mobile device through Tork’s app to communicate its health, range, service alerts and customised riding profiles, the company noted. Tork continues to further its electric motorcycle technology with its signature Tork Intuitive Response Operating System (TIROS) that will power the T6X. Apart from analysis and compilation of data for every ride, power management, real-time power consumption and range forecasts, TIROS also learn the way customers ride, explained the company.
The motorcycle features an aggressive design, complimented by a custom Trellis frame, 267 mm front disc brake, 220 mm rear disc brake, and 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless dual-compound tyres. It has telescopic fork front suspension, with the rear featuring a spring-loaded hydraulic mom suspension setup. The T6X weighs 130 kg, and is equipped with a fully-digital touch TFT console, helmet storage, mobile charging port, GPS and navigation and mobile app support.
Kapil Shelke, Founder and Director, Tork Motors, said investments in smart technology, the company’s racing pedigree, and experience with electric vehicles has enabled it to enhance the overall value proposition with the T6X. Powering the T6X is Tork’s signature TIROS intelligence system which will enable the rider to easily switch between customisable ride modes adjusting power delivery, he added. Shelke also said that the company is looking at selling 5,000-10,000 units each year for the first three years.
Tork Motors said it is also working towards building a robust charging infrastructure in the target markets. Currently the brand has already set up six charging points in Pune, and aims to take the number to 100 by December, 2016 in the city.
