Tata Motors has announced a significant price reduction for its Nexon and Tiago EV models, with savings of up to ₹1,20,000. This drop is primarily attributed to a slight decline in battery cell prices used in manufacturing.
While the prices of the recently launched Punch EV remain unchanged, the Tata Tiago EV will now start at ₹7.99 lakh in India. Additionally, the Nexon EV will be available from ₹14.49 lakh, while the long-range Nexon EV starts at ₹16.99 lakh.
Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), explained, “Battery costs constitute a substantial part of an EV’s overall cost. With recent price softening and anticipated future reductions, we’re passing on the benefits directly to customers. Our goal is to accelerate the mainstream adoption of EVs by enhancing accessibility nationwide. With our diverse EV portfolio, featuring various body styles, ranges, and price points, we believe the Nexon EV and Tiago EV will become even more appealing at these accessible prices.”
The Tata Tiago EV, launched in October 2022 at an introductory price of ₹8.49 lakh (ex-showroom), offers two battery pack options. The former features a 24 kWh battery pack with an MIDC range of 315 km, while the latter offers a 19.2 kWh battery pack delivering a range of 250 km.
