Achieves Global Excellence in Total Quality Management Across Composites and Vision Systems
Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, a leading provider of automotive components for both Indian and global OEMs, has made significant strides in the industry by securing the prestigious Deming Prize for 2024. This double recognition comes as the Tata AutoComp Composites Division and Tata Ficosa, two key entities within the company, receive accolades for their excellence in Total Quality Management (TQM).
Tata AutoComp Composites Division stands out as the first entity in the global composites industry to achieve this honour, marking a milestone in TQM practices within its sector. Simultaneously, Tata Ficosa has become the first Indian auto-component company to win the Deming Prize in the Vision Systems product category. This achievement highlights Tata AutoComp’s dedication to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Remarkable Growth Amid TQM Implementation
Tata AutoComp has shown tremendous financial growth, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 36% in revenue from FY 2020 to FY 2024, driven by its Total Quality Management implementation. Both Tata Ficosa and Tata AutoComp Composites Division have reported significant improvements in product quality during this period, reducing customer rejection rates to single-digit parts per million (PPM), aligning with global industry standards.
Mr. Arvind Goel, Chairman of Tata AutoComp Systems, expressed his pride in the company’s achievements, stating, “Receiving the Deming Prize is a significant milestone in our Total Quality Management journey. It reflects our commitment to customer centricity and continuous improvement across all levels. This recognition will further accelerate our progress as we expand our presence in the mobility market through innovation and sustainable solutions.”
TQM at the Core of Tata AutoComp’s Strategy
The Deming Prize reinforces Tata AutoComp’s core strategy of integrating TQM principles to drive operational excellence. The company’s approach centres around four key pillars of TQM: Policy Management, Daily Work Management, Cross-Functional Management, and Total Employee Involvement. These pillars ensure that quality remains at the forefront of the company’s operations, engaging all employees and creating a culture of shared responsibility for improvement.
Looking ahead, Tata AutoComp aims to extend TQM practices across its entire group and to its suppliers, ensuring continuous quality improvements and enhancing the overall value of its products. With the Deming Prize now under its belt, Tata AutoComp is well-positioned to lead the automotive component industry towards higher standards of quality and performance.
This recognition not only highlights Tata AutoComp’s leadership in TQM but also sets a new standard for the global automotive components industry, encouraging other players to adopt similar practices for long-term growth and sustainability.
