Tamil Nadu has attracted an investment of Rs 2,42,160 crore investment in the first Global Investors Meet that concluded today in Chennai. In the valedictory section, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa said, “I am extremely happy to inform you that in a resounding endorsement of the State of Tamil Nadu the total amounting investments that have been finalised during the the Global Investors Meet in Chennai is an unprecedented Rs 2,42,160 crore rupees. This is more than double the investment of Rs 1 lakh crore rupees targeted for this event. Thisnienalso exceeds the cumulative investment attracted through all MoUs signed by the Government of Tamil Nadu over the 20 years period from 1991 to 2011.”
Out of the totalinvestments Rs 1,04,286 crore rupees investment is from the manufacturing sector. Tamil Nadu is already one of the top 10 automobile hubs in the world and Chennai alone can produce about 1.4 million cars a year. Jayalalithaa also confirmed that the necessary statutory clearance would be accorded within a period of 30 days from the date of application with all supporting documentation to the Guidance Bureau’s Single Window Clearance facility. The government will be organising GIM once in 2 years and the next meet would be help in 2017.
