Ms Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman & CEO of TAFE Group was conferred the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contribution to Trade & Industry. She received the award from Hon’ble President Pranab Mukherjee at a glittering function held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on 26 April 2014.
Srinivasan is a gold-medalist in Econometrics from the University of Madras, Mallika Srinivasan graduated as a member of the Dean’s Honor List, and the Alpha Beta Gamma Society from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, USA, and was ranked as one of its top 125 most successful alumni. Currently, she is on the Board of AGCO Corp (USA), TATA Steel Limited, TATA Global Beverages Limited; the Chairman of The United Nilgiri Tea Estates Company Limited; on the Executive Board of Indian School of Business (Hyderabad) and on the Governing Board of Rural Technology and Business Incubator, Indian Institute of Technology (Chennai).
On receiving the award Srinivasan said, “I am deeply honored on being recognised with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the TAFE team, both past and present, for raising TAFE to its current status, transitioning from a domestic company to a conglomerate centered around human values, and acclaimed for its mass manufacturing capability.”
Srinivasan is bestowed with several awards and honours. In 2011, she was voted Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young; awarded the Woman Leader of the Year award by Forbes India; recognized by Forbes Asia as one of the Top 50 Asian Power Businesswomen, ranked second among India’s Most Powerful Women in Business by Fortune India and named among the six Most Powerful Women of India Inc. by Business Today, while the Asian Business Leadership Forum (ABLF) honored her with the esteemed ABLF Woman of Power Award. NDTV Profit, India’s leading business television channel, accorded her the special honor of Business Thought Leader of the Year 2012, at the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards. Recently, the India Today Woman magazine featured her in the Power List 2013 – At the Top List. She was a member of the Economic Times Awards 2013 jury.
TAFE is world’s third largest tractor manufacturer and second largest in India by volumes with an annual sale of over 170,000 tractors. The company is India’s largest exporter of tractors with a turnover in excess of Rs 9,500 crores. Under Srinivasan’s stewardship, the company emerged as one of the world’s top three tractor manufacturers and India’s largest exporter of tractors. A renowned name for her contribution of Indian industry and academia, she is recognised for her commitment to excellence in operations, redefining the farm machinery business and for transforming the landscape of Indian agriculture by leveraging TAFE’s competencies to deliver products of high quality and relevance with an inherent customer focus.
Srinivasan initiated steps to tap global markets to balance the swings in demand in a cyclical industry. She significantly contributed to developing new products of TAFE to meet emerging customer demands for tractors and agriculture machinery, and exponential growth of TAFE’s exports. TAFE’s products are now sold in over 75 countries spanning South Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa and North America, resonating with its corporate vision of ‘cultivating the world.’ With a proven track record of propelling TAFE from an Indian tractor company to a global player on an exponential growth trajectory, Mallika Srinivasan has consistently focused on ensuring inclusive growth of TAFE’s stakeholder communities across the world.

TAFE manufactures a range of tractors in the sub 100 HP segment in both the air-cooled and water-cooled platforms and markets them under its three iconic brands – Massey Ferguson, TAFE and Eicher. Its over 1000 strong distribution network covers the entire length and breadth of India. Apart from India, its products have found excellent acceptance in over 75 countries across the world, including developed countries in Europe and the Americas.
