The Bombay Exhibition Centre (Mumbai) hosted hosted industry experts, decision-makers, and security enthusiasts from across India at the second annual edition of the ‘Security and Fire Expo 2024’. At Nesco, held from May 09-11, the venue was transformed into the region’s largest and most influential congregation in the region. Organiser Informa Markets said to have been dedicated to security and surveillance for the betterment of society for 17 consecutive years reiterated an ongoing commitment that underscores their role in promoting advancements and innovation in the field, contributing to a safer and more secure community extending to automotive. With a diverse array of participants in attendance, from exhibitors, consultants, industry experts, and key government officials from both India and overseas, advanced, high-tech products related to both security and fire safety were showcased together on a single platform at the expo. The Business-to-Business (B2B) event didn’t disappoint and was an eye opener for visitors. According to a committee member, the number of visitors this year marked a rise of 30 per cent over the previous edition.
The expo was home to over 75 global brands, including major players like Panasonic India, TP-Link India, Hikvision and Prama India among prominent Indian brands specialising in various security technologies. These technologies included CCTV surveillance systems, biometrics, access control, GPS, Wi-Fi routers, spy cameras, power supplies, dash cameras, and more.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the event also hosted an exclusive two-day conference titled “Intelligent Security Tech for a Safer Future.” This conference attracted more than 40 speakers and 5,000 trade visitors. The discussions and presentations at the conference focused on the latest advancements in security technology, exploring innovative solutions and strategies to enhance safety and security in various sectors. Sandeep Sabharwal, Assistant Vice President- Corporate Administration, Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd. opined, “The evolution of security is evident, from traditional methods to integrated technological solutions like AI, IoT and cloud-based systems. Now security is an integrated form, not limited to guarding gates but including sophisticated systems such as video monitoring, perimeter intrusion detection, and drone surveillance, enhancing overall safety.”
Echoing a similar sentiment, Ashish P. Dhakan, MD & CEO of Prama Hikvision India Pvt. Ltd., expressed, “Indian security market ecosystem is rapidly adopting AI, loT and cloud-based technologies among diverse technology. The adoption rate for AIoT solutions is growing faster with the awareness of its advantages.” He cited how Hikvision India is at the forefront of AIoT innovations and is offering advanced technologies in all its latest products and solutions. The impact of 5G-enabled cameras, eliminating cabling needs for applications like highway surveillance are a testimony, he pointed. Even familiar products like X-ray scanners are getting smarter, now using AI to identify items and generate QR codes. These advancements underscore the growing importance of technology in security.
It is not accurate to say that all the brands participating in the exhibition were solely related to security. The event featured a diverse range of exhibitors, including those specialising in fire safety. ACI

through the latest AI technology, paving the way for smarter and safer roads. Vikas Bose, another visitor, was impressed by PRAMA and BioMax Security. He mentioned that the exhibition has been instrumental in helping people learn about various innovations and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of security and the use of technology for a better future.

These mobile NVRs are widely used in public transportation for monitoring and recording inside buses, trains, and subways for safety and security. They are also employed in emergency services, such as police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks, to record incidents and ensure operational integrity. In the logistics sector, they ensure the security of cargo and aid in fleet management for delivery trucks and vans. Additionally, they enhance the safety of passenger vehicles, including taxis, ride-sharing services, and private cars. Hikvision provides various software solutions for managing their mobile NVR, such as the Hik-Connect mobile application for remote access, live viewing, and playback, the iVMS-4200 video management software for configuration, management, and video playback, and the HikCentral central management system for large-scale deployments, offering extensive control and monitoring capabilities. Overall, Hikvision mobile NVRs on show at the expo are claimed to have been designed to deliver reliable, high-quality video surveillance in mobile environments, catering to the specific needs of various applications especially automotive.

Dahua Technology, another Chinese surveillance giant, launched its new range of 5G-enabled cameras, which can enable real-time monitoring and response. Jason Wang, Director of Dahua India, highlighted the benefits of 5G technology in surveillance, stating, “5G-enabled cameras can transmit data in real-time, making surveillance more effective and efficient.”

The popular models on show included the the TP-Link TL-WR841N, a budget-friendly option with two external antennas for improved coverage, easy setup, and security features like WPA/WPA2 encryption. The TP-Link TL-WR840N, with its sleek design, 2.4GHz frequency, and robust security and the TP-Link TL-WR940N, offering three external antennas for better coverage and stability. Their use cases include manufacturing plants and Centre of Excellences (CoEs) mushrooming in the country as India caters to the globe.
