MG Motor India and PPG Asian Paints launch a technology that can enable CO2 reduction of 1500 tons/annum
MG Motor India takes another step in the direction of long-term sustainability. The company just became the world’s first car brand to employ PPG Asian Paints’ ULTRAX Degreaser, a liquid alkaline degreasing cleaner. The advent of a degreasing pre-treatment chemical is in line with the brand’s commitment to making sustainable mobility more environmentally friendly, resulting in a CO2 reduction of 787 tons per year.
Apart from the ULTRAX degreaser, MG Motor India conserves energy through Low-Temperature Phosphate (VERSABOND) and High Throw Low Cure Cathodic Electro Coating Paint, leading to a CO2 reduction of 325 tons/annum and approximately 388 tons/annum, respectively. These new technologies will support the company to enable a cumulative CO2 reduction of 1500 tons/annum.Ravi Mittal – Director Manufacturing, MG Motor India, said, “Through the #ChangeWhatYouCan campaign, MG Motor India, is focusing on bringing innovations to make positive changes to the environment and society. MG Motor India is always looking for new methods to make a good influence on the environment. It recently teamed with CleanMax to run its activities in the Halol manufacturing cluster using 4.85 MW of wind-solar power, saving 2 lakh MT of CO2 over 15 years. The company has also introduced its newest program (Enviro Wash), which encourages individuals to conserve up to 14 lakh litres of water per month via dry auto washing. In the case of electric vehicles, MG Motor has partnered with Attero to reuse and recycle Li-ion batteries in India. Its relationship with TES-AMM also ensures that EV batteries are recycled in a sustainable and secure manner in the country.
