Komaki Expands Manufacturing Capabilities with New 1.2 Lakh Units Annual Battery Plant

Komaki Electric Vehicles has announced the launch of its second lithium battery manufacturing facility in Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, marking a significant expansion of its production capabilities. Spread across 40,000 sq. ft., the new plant is positioned as one of the largest integrated EV battery manufacturing units in North India.

The facility has been set up with an investment of ₹30 crore and is designed to manufacture up to 10,000 LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries per month, translating to an annual production capacity of 1.2 lakh units. The expansion is aimed at supporting Komaki’s growing electric vehicle portfolio while strengthening its domestic manufacturing footprint.

The company has chosen to focus on LFP and LMFP cell technologies, underlining its emphasis on safety, durability, and performance. These battery chemistries are known for their thermal stability, fire-resistant properties, longer lifecycle, and relatively faster charging capabilities, making them suitable for Indian operating conditions.

Komaki’s battery systems are designed to deliver a lifecycle of up to 2,500 charge cycles and are backed by warranty options of 3 years for LFP and 5 years for LMFP batteries. This is expected to enhance reliability while reducing the total cost of ownership for end users.

The new facility also incorporates sustainability-focused manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on minimising material wastage and improving resource efficiency. This aligns with the company’s broader approach toward environmentally responsible mobility solutions.

Commenting on the development, Gunjan Malhotra, Co-founder of Komaki Electric Vehicles, said, “The inauguration of our second lithium battery plant marks a defining step in Komaki’s journey to build a self-reliant and future-ready EV ecosystem. By focusing on LFP and LMFP technologies, we are prioritizing safety, durability, and long-term value for our customers. This facility strengthens our manufacturing capabilities while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable innovation and indigenous production at scale.”

With this expansion, Komaki continues to invest in advanced battery technologies, aligning its growth strategy with India’s transition toward clean and sustainable mobility.
