Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has teamed up with CHARGE ZONE to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging network in India. This new partnership will see the installation of DC 60 kW fast chargers at 100 Hyundai dealerships across the country, significantly expanding HMIL’s EV infrastructure.
Currently, HMIL operates 34 EV fast charging stations nationwide. With this new initiative, Hyundai customers will benefit from these high-speed chargers available at their local dealerships, and EV drivers from all brands will have access through the ‘myHyundai’ or ‘CHARGE ZONE’ apps.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Mr. Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head – Corporate Planning at HMIL, and Mr. Kartikey Hariyani, Founder & CEO of CHARGE ZONE, at HMIL’s headquarters in Gurugram. This strategic collaboration aims to support India’s EV adoption goals by expanding public charging infrastructure, making intercity and intracity travel easier for EV users.
Mr. Ryu highlighted the importance of enhancing EV charging infrastructure to reduce range anxiety and foster electric mobility adoption. He emphasized that this partnership will improve the charging experience for all EV users, regardless of the vehicle brand.
Mr. Hariyani from CHARGE ZONE emphasized their commitment to building a renewable energy-powered charging network and ensuring reliable and accessible charging solutions.
Currently, HMIL operates 19 dealerships with DC 60 kW chargers. The addition of 100 more charging stations will improve access and convenience for EV users. HMIL’s holistic EV roadmap includes both dealership-based and standalone fast charging stations, as well as a comprehensive Charging Management System (CMS) available through the ‘myHyundai’ app, allowing seamless access to various charging points and services.
