A large delegation of the vendors of Isuzu Motors India visited Sri City on Tuesday. The 180-member team includes the senior executives of various domestic and international companies which will supply auto components to Isuzu. The purpose of their visit was to have a glimpse of Isuzu production plant, and to witness the bustling activity at the industrial park.

Welcoming the visitors Ravindra Sannareddy Managing Director, Sri City said, “With the presence of auto major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like Isuzu, Kobelco Group, Hero Corp., and several automotive ancillary industries, like NS Instruments, Nittan Valve, NHK Springs, Piolax, Mitsubishi Metal One, etc., there exists a strong ecosystem for automobile sector in Sri City.” Elucidating the proactive industrial policy of Andhra Pradesh, Sannareddy mentioned, “Government is keen to develop an ‘Automobile Hub’ in this region, and offers a spree of incentives for the prospective investors coming forth to invest in the sector.”
Following the briefing session the team went round the campus and visited the ISUZU plant, which is under the final phase of construction. Later, they all attended the vendors’ meet convened by Isuzu. Commercial production of the pick-up trucks is expected to begin at Isuzu’s Sri City production plant in April 2016. As announced earlier, Isuzu plans to source components from around 200 vendors in India when it commences manufacturing operations. With the procurement of components from local suppliers, the company can achieve 70 percent localisation on its vehicles to be produced at Sri City plant. Isuzu is confident of achieving 100 percent localisation within 3 years. Isuzu is investing Rs 3,000 crore in the facility that will have an installed capacity of 50,000 units per annum initially and will touch 120,000 units at full capacity.
