April 3,2025; New Delhi: ” As part of the “Liberation Day” campaign, U.S. president Donald Trump recently signed an executive order on April 2,2025, which the automotive component Manufacturers Association of India ( ACMA) notes.we recognize that the U.S. administration wants to correct trade imbalances and increase domestic manufacturing .
It should be emphasized that the aforementioned order does not apply to automobiles and auto parts or steel and aluminium goods, which are already subject to 25% section 232 tariffs as previously declared in President Trump’s proclamation on March 26, 2025. However, the comprehensive list of car parts that will be subject to a 25% import tax in US is still pending.
ACMA is still optimistic that a fair settlement that benefits both economies will result from the current bilateral talks between the government of the United States and India. We think that the robust economic ties between the US and India, particularly in the auto component industry, will promote ongoing discussion to lessen the effects of these policies. In order to safeguard the long-term interest of the Indian auto component sector, ACMA is dedicated to interacting with all stakeholders. CMD of subros Ltd.and President of ACMA ,Shradha Suri Marwah.
