Volvo Penta launches two new CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) Stage II engines for genset application for the Indian market. With the new TWD1652GE and TWD1653GE engines, the global company now offers a range from 250 kVA (the 7-litre TAD754GE) to 600 kVA (TWD1652GE) and 650 KVA (TWD1653GE) on prime power. Interestingly, Volvo Penta along with Volvo Trucks share many of the engine components produced at Volvo Eicher Powertrain (VEPT) in India. The new engines are designed and built to have optimum uptime while also consuming less fuel with lower cost of ownership. In addition it has high power to weight density enabling to compete with much larger engines from other manufacturers.
Launching the new engines, Volvo Penta’s president Bjorn Ingemanson said, “In the near future, India will be one of our largest and most important industrial engine markets.By expanding our range of products suited to the Indian market, we are demonstrating our long-term commitment to this market and to our OEM partners. Along with our local organisation we will be learning more about this important market, as well as to continue discussions about production and further expansion with our joint venture partners.”
Volvo Penta offers wide range of off-road and powergen engines with a dealer and aftermarket network spanning in 130 countries. It also takes advantage of the experience, research and development and dealer network of its sister companies including Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Trucks. Volvo Penta is already active in India with five and eight litre base engine manufactured at Volvo Eicher joint venture factory in Pithampur.
