Scheduled from 23-24 October, 2024 at Eros Hotel in New Delhi, the 7th edition of India Refining Summit 2024, organized by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India, will explore the discussions surrounding green energy and capacity building across a larger theme of ‘Navigating green and sustainable technologies.’ The summit will present an agenda for refineries’ holistic approach to becoming Next-Gen Refineries, which meet demand growth, pursue advanced and sustainable technologies and prioritize strategic measures and investments to improve the nation’s energy resilience, petroleum storage capacity and achievement of net zero targets.

With the domestic consumption of oil and petroleum products in India being on its record rise and Indian refineries already operating on their full capacities, the refineries have ambitiously planned to add about 35-40 million tonne (MT) of crude oil refining capacity by the year 2030. After the said capacity addition, India’s total refining capacity will increase to 295 MT, according to CRISIL Ratings. The planned capacity-addition is aimed at meeting the rising domestic demand. Meanwhile, over the last decade, India’s refining capacity expanded by 42 MT, reaching 257 MT in fiscal 2024. This growth was mainly driven by rising domestic demand, while exports remained stable at 60-65 MT as per the recent CRISIL Ratings. Besides this, as per recent news surrounding India’s expansion of procuring oil from 27 suppliers to 39, presents the proactive approach to diversify its sources placing the country in a secure position, ensuring energy security for the growing economy.

In this backdrop, the India Refining Summit is set to bring key influential people from the concerned Ministry, Government bodies, experts from the think tanks and leaders from India’s refining companies.
