Mercedes-Benz do Brasil empowers its leadership team with a new head of procurement. With Erodes Berbetz (43), the company engaged an experienced purchasing expert with proven market knowledge in Brazil. Berbetz will follow Ricardo Vieira Santos (57), who is retiring.

“With Erodes Berbetz we won an expert, who knows the commercial vehicle market in Brazil and its suppliers by heart. He will significantly contribute to broaden purchasing activies for our local production in Brasil,” said Philipp Schiemer, President of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil and CEO of Daimler Trucks Latin America. Berbetz will report to Marcus Schoenenberg, Head of Global Procurement Trucks & Buses.

Berbetz brings an extensive experience with various positions occupied in the automotive area to Mercedes-Benz do Brasil. After graduation in Industrial Engineering and Management, he joined Volvo in Brazil in 1988, as a purchaser of spare parts and other commodities. In 2002 he assumed the role of “Strategic Sourcing Team Leader” of Volvo Trucks Corporation in the U.S.

Back in Brazil, Erodes worked as purchasing manager for electric cars and trucks, new materials and aggregates from 2003 to 2010. Subsequently, he was appointed director of purchasing for aggregates and then purchasing director South America Volvo do Brazil.
